how to hide assignments in google classroom

As of my last knowledge update in January 2023, Google Classroom does not have a built-in feature to hide or archive assignments from the view of students. However, you can consider the following workarounds to effectively manage and organize your assignments:

  1. Use Topics:

    • Assignments in Google Classroom can be organized using topics. You can create a topic called "Archived" or a similar term and move the assignments you want to hide into this topic. While this doesn't hide them completely, it separates them from the main stream of active assignments.
  2. Set Due Dates in the Future:

    • If you have completed assignments that you don't want students to focus on, you can set their due dates in the future. This way, they will not appear prominently in the "To-Do" list for students.
  3. Use a Different Class:

    • If the assignments are no longer relevant or are for reference purposes only, you might consider creating a new class in Google Classroom specifically for archived or completed assignments. Move the assignments to this new class.
  4. Create a Shared Drive or Folder:

    • If you want to store completed assignments outside of Google Classroom, consider creating a shared Google Drive folder where you can store all archived assignments. You can provide students with a link to this folder if they need access to the materials.

Remember that Google Classroom is regularly updated, and new features may be added over time. It's a good practice to check the official Google Classroom support or updates documentation for the latest information and any new features that may address your specific needs.

Additionally, always communicate with your students regarding your expectations and any changes you make in organizing assignments to ensure clarity and transparency
